Time has come to save the natural resources available to us from the earth and start using the other renewable resources. Solar energy is one of the cheap and continuous source of generating electricity. Taiwan has built the world’s first solar stadium.
World’s First Solar powered Stadium is located in Taiwan. This stadium is generating all electricity required by Solar energy from photovoltaic technology. This stadium has been built in Taiwan for the 2009 World Games which were held here in July 2009.
Designed by the mastermind of Japanese architect Toyo Ito, the stadium can accommodate 55, 000 peoples. The roof is completely covered by solar panels and there are 8,844 such solar panels which will generate sustainable energy to light-up 3,300 lights and two giant display screens in the building preventing 660 tons of annual carbon dioxide.
After successful 2009 World Games, the Taiwanese national football team is going to play its home matches here. When you have a look at its shape, it looks like horse shoe. The stadium can also be used for athletics and rugby events.
