Virgin Mobiles launches GSM services in India

virgin mobilesVirgin Mobiles United Kingdom based mobile phone company in plan to expand their Indian subcontinent operation has launched GSM services in India on January 21, 2010.

The GSM services of Virgin Mobiles has been launched inĀ  Southern Indian states Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala on 21st January 2010 and are planning to launch in rest of Indian within three months.

Virgin Mobiles entered into Indian market by joining hands with CDMA services of Tata Tele services Ltd but they were only limited to only CDMA. Once they understood how important is the share of GSM they though of starting GSM services too. Around 70 % of the Indian mobiles users are using GSM mobile service and they find it very economical than CDMA services.

In the early December 2010 Uninor too started their GSM services in India and evoked a mixed response among the people as of now. So lets see how competitive is GSM services of Virgin Mobiles
