Did you ever heard a restaurant started inspired by a movie? For me it seems to be true in movie but not in real life but its a true phenomena made here in Hyderabad, India.
Hyderabad and Secunderabad in common are called as twin cities, rather the latter one name is not so famously known. In the heart of Secuderabad near Begumpet, Prajay Engineers Syndicate Limited has started a restaurant by name Sholay Restaurant, seems an innovative idea of presenting a restaurant inspired by a movie.
Sholay Restaurant is completely an authentic Indian restaurant. The walls in and around the restaurant are covered in murals from the movie and portraits of Thakur, Jai, Veeru & Basanti are are adorned around. At the centre of the restaurant they also have a water tank as shown in the movie in which drunk Dharmendra threatens to kill himself in that so called suicide scene. The ingenious Surma Bhoopali has a pan shop as he is always seen chewing pan in the movie. The workers are dressed in characters from Sholay serving the food. The songs and dialogues from the movie are continuously played in the background.
Thats not all, now come to menu. The restaurant serves North Indian cuisines. The menu card includes captions like ‘Ramgarh ke Sholon Ki Aag Se’, ‘Yeh Dosti Hum Nahin Chooreinge’ , ‘Soorma Bhopali Pan Khazana’, ‘tumhara naam kya hai basanti’, ‘ab tera kya hoga kaliya’, ‘hum angrez ke zamane ke jailor hain’ that is how the menu items are listed which is confusing, you should read the description given below to understand what the dish is all about.
You would feel like Ramgarh revisited when you visit this restaurant in Hyderabad.
