Airtel introduces Airtel Friend Locator by which you can find where exactly are your friends without calling them. The service will provide you the landmarks which will tell where exactly is your friend located updated every 15 minutes.
Under Airtel Friend Locator you can add upto 10 friends of Airtel network and you can organize them accordingly in groups, set periodic updates and find your friends location, the big condition is that they all must be on Airtel and they should activate Airtel Friends Locator Service from Airtel for which they are chargeable.
How Does Airtel Friends Locator Works?
This system works on Geocoded information which translates Geo information into commonly known landmarks. For example if you are at Imax theatre then Geocode will show “Yogesh is near Imax Theatre, Necklace Road, Hyderabad” to your friends who ever access the information about you. You can get periodic updates about your friends location just like how you get Miss Call Alerts messages on your mobile.
How to Activate Airtel Friends Locator
For this service to activate you can just dial *321*88# to experience Airtel Friend Locator on your mobile. Charges of Rs 10 for 10 days are applicable as the Activation Charges which will be deducted from your main balance.
Subscription Charges
Now then you have activated Airtel Friends Locator, you have two options on how often you want to get updates about your friends. Please note that these charges are extra which doesnt include Activation Charges.
PLAN 1: Periodic Updates for 1 hour at Rs 5
With this plan you will be notified about your friends location every 15 mins for about 1 hours (4 SMS to you) with an charge of Rs 5.
PLAN 2: Periodic Updates upto 6 hour at Rs 10
With this plan you will be notified about your friends location every 30 mins for upto 6 hours with an charge of Rs 10.
Please note that you can move from Plan 1 to Plan 2 depending upon your requirements.
Deactivation Procedure for Airtel Friends Locator
If you want to deactivate Airtel Friends Locator on your mobile then you have to dial *321*88# and following the instructions. Airtel Friends Locator is automatically deactivated after 10 days from the activation date but this procedure is for quick deactivation in some cases.

Right now this is available in Airtel only. If your Mobile provider is providing this then you can use this. but in Indian I think its Airtel who have launched this service officially.

Each of your friends having Airtel Friends Locator activated on their mobile will come to know of their friends location if requested. Condition is that all of them must have Airtel SIM.

You will be automatically unsubscribed when your activation expires in 10 days. Else you want to quickly deactivate then you need to dial *321*88# and follow up the procedure.
does this service show location even if the mobile is switched off?
No this Service Doesn’t Show Location if your friends mobile is switched Off. Since this services work based on the Network Tower located nearby you will be notified, so if you friends is out of Network or his mobile is Switched Off then you will be not notified about his locations.

No With Airtel Friends Locator you can locate your friends who are on Airtel only.
Is it compulsory that the airtel friend locator should be activated on both airtel connections to locate friends or is it okay if my friend accepts the request???
You needn’t activate on your friends mobile phone, If you activate on your phone you will be get notified of your friends location if he accepts the request and also he should be on Airtel.

Its necessary for them to accept your request once to starting tracing your friend. This is required for the purpose of security so that you don’t locate other people.
