If you are really sure that you want to delete your Facebook account and every data in it then you can do this by following steps.
1. Login to your account.
2. Go to Delete Facebook Account Page
3. Click on ‘Submit’.
4. A popup window will appear asking you to provide password and captcha, please do so. By Clicking on OK, your account is marked for deletion.
5. Don’t login to your account for 2 weeks your account would be deleted.

There is an option in Facebook where you can deactivate your account and later reactivate it. I would highly suggest people to do that rather than deleting their account, as building the account and network again later would be a hard task.
